6.7.19 Preview enabling captions after every Live TV channel change

Ever since my Roku Ultra updated to 6.7.19 version of the Plex channel, I have captions enabled every time I go into Live TV. If I turn them off using the Roku menu, then change channels, they get turned on again.

The announcement note said that captions would be ‘forced on’ if subtitles are enabled, but as far as I am aware Live TV does not have subtitles.

In the Roku menu, have you tried selecting the captioning track and selecting none. This can be found in the accessibility section of the Roku menu (* button during playback). There is also a short cut to this in our OSD. Press (OK or down to bring up the OSD). There is a button on the far left to change the subtitle/caption tracks.

We could have probably better worded this, but it applies to both. Just like the “captions mode” (and any caption options) in the Roku system settings also applies to subtitles.

Thanks, checked both locations and set both to None. The Plex OSD said “Unknown (closed captions)”, after changing that to None the Roku menu said “*English” but “currently none”, and changed that to None as well.

Presumably these were the default settings but never had any effect previously, since I wouldn’t have had any reason to enable subtitle tracks… except for my GoT recordings. I’ll have to check their behavior with these settings changed.
