Enable captions (turn on if it’s off) when subtitles are selected.
How does this interact with the “automatic” setting for subtitles on Roku? Will it still burn in\transcode ASS with layouts and image formats as priority?
Will it turn off the caption mode when the playback is over or will it be off when selecting a new video that doesn’t have subtitles?
This looks like a very useful setting considering subtitles being tied to caption mode is an annoying function of Roku so I was just curious if there were a few more details around it please?
I checked the Settings: Plex for Roku | Plex Support but didn’t notice anything - if someone with experience with it can illuminate me I’d appreciate it!
This doesn’t affect any time burning subs in required. If subtitles required to be burned in, and you had subtitles selected, then they would be burned in regardless of the captions mode (no change here).
It will revert back to the original captions mode (OFF), unless you changed it to something other than OFF during playback in the * menu.
We hope it is. It’s always been quite cumbersome, to say the least, to select subtitles and remember to modify the captions mode.
Awesome. Thanks for answering my questions! Looks like it’ll be a nice update to help with subtitle handling on Roku (one of my primary complaints with Roku). Much appreciated!
