7.1 Dolby and DTS playback broken with 4K and 1080i or 1080p Blurays

Server Version#: 6.8.3
Player Version#: 7.7
Sadly since Plex Linuxserver version 1.19.5.3112-b23ab3896-ls114 , 4K will no longer playback certain .mkv files. What is confusing is some of the Movies or TV shows encoded with exactly the same .mkv format actually play, but most of them don’t. When monitoring the Plex server dashboard I noticed that when playback is invoked on a Apple TV 4K the server does not pick up that I’m trying to playback anything. On some movies, the dashboard will show ‘buffering’ and not play anything at all.

I’ve tried all the versions after 1.19.5.3112-b23ab3896-ls114 but none of them work after this release.

So, I have downgraded to 1.19.5.3112-b23ab3896-ls114 from this docker location for Unraid. https://hub.docker.com/r/linuxserver/plex/tags

If anybody out there knows a solution that would be just fantastic!

PS: I have crossed posted this issue on the forum here. https://forums.unraid.net/topic/40463-support-linuxserverio-plex-media-server/page/185/#replyForm

I’m replying to my own thread here,

So, It’s a decoding issue of Dolby or DTS 7.1 that no longer works. When you select manually 5.1 or stereo, the stream will work.

Now tell that to all your end users when they are watching the spinning ball of plex “buffering”.

It is definately a 7.1 audio decoding issue. It happens on Apple TV, Roku, Fire TV 4K, all devices. The only way to get it working is heading on back down to 1.19.5.3112

It appears to be fixed with 1.21.1.3830. Thank you Plex dev’s!
