720 files no longer automatically adjusting to fill screen Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K

I updated the Plex Server Version a few weeks back. I think the Amazon 4K FireTV Stick app has updated. Now, the 720 files only play at a smaller resolution, and no longer “automatically” fill the screen as they used to until a few days ago. Is this a permanent change? I now can only use the TV’s own Aspect settings to sort of fill the screen and have to constantly change it to watch other 1080 files.
Any advice beyond watching everything in 1080p?

Check Display Mode setting. Set it to Letterbox if different. The setting is persistent. You only have to change it once, not for every video.

I've somehow made my Plex videos play smaller than before

FireTV / AndroidTV / Android Mobile: During playback, pull up on-screen controls. Select three vertical dots on right edge of screen. Select Playback Settings. Scroll down to Display Mode. [1] [2] [3]

Aspect ratio all wrong on 1080p

1080p is a 1920x1080 rectangle ( assuming not a "wide screen/anamorphic film). a 4k TV is a 3840 x 2160 rectangle. the small rectangle when shown a “original” size is much smaller than the TV. If your movie was 1920x1080 and your tv was 1920x1080 then you would not see any difference when set to original because they are the same size. if your movie was 3840 x 2160 and the tv was 1920x1080 the it would appear zoomed in.
