Nothing further at the moment, I’ve been unable to reproduce since I did a complete uninstall and reinstall (which is necessary when downgrading), but I have an issue filed internally to track this. My TV is a Sony Z9D (2016), so not the fastest thing out there these days, but it still feels okay after the reinstall :psyduck_confusion:

Your TV have different SoC and maybe version OS

Your Sony Z9D
SoC: MediaTek MT5891 (aka 5596)
Installed RAM: 2 GB
Core Architecture: 4x ARM Cortex-A53
CPU Clock: 1100 MHz
GPU Renderer: ARM Mali-T860 MP2

New Sony AH8/XH95
SoC: MediaTek MT5893 (aka MT5598)
Instaled RAM: 2.5 GB
Core Arhitecture: 4x ARM Cortex-A73
CPU Clock: 1032-1500MHz
GPU Renderer: ARM Mali-G71

This logs and video from my TV, logs captured exactly from this video. https://youtu.be/zfg_n9pqF_s

8.15_ok.txt (1.3 МБ)
8.17_bad.txt (1.2 МБ)

Im back on 15.2 with Sideload on my TV. No laggy GUI, no blurry color changing background and no black/white lines everytime starting an series or movie…

I think, my TV is not the bad guy.

Yeah exactly same issue here on A8H. Sorry I was supposed to get the logs also… I derped and sent em as PDF last time. Will try to find the time tomorrow.

Looked at your video @GRANGEX - my video looks exactly like that, choppy as heck on 16+.

Something is off with the 16+ versions for newer Sony TVs, it’s not the TV. Also running 15.2 perfectly smooth.

Hello to everyone I have the same problems sluggish UI, lines before video start, and also problem with automatic play next series (infinite loop on loading) on Philips PUS7354 (Android TV 9, Kernel 4.9.125)
Problems appear on 8.16(8.17). Previous 8.15 - works fine (made fresh install each time)
I tried to enable “Reduce motion” or Disable Motion features on TV - no luck.
I also installed last version on external mibox s and connected to TV - no such UI glitches

Tried to look on logcat but didn’t see any errors there

exact same problem here! started with 8.16.

server version 1.22.3.4523
android (for tv) app version 8.17.0.25120 @ Philips 65PUS8505

Same issue here with 8.17, noticeably lag when browsing content since updating. Would appreciate a fix.

Note: Sony A8h app

My Sony XH950 has now updated it’s home screen to Google TV… Can’t really say it’s much of an improvement, and the ads definitely suck!

But all that aside, the internal Plex app has also updated to 8.17 and the lag is pretty bad.

However I have noticed that whilst on the home screen, every time I navigate to an item, the blurred background changes dynamically, and I wonder if this may be a partial cause for the lag?

Looks like new version 8.18 fixed slow interface on my TV, but still have black/white lines when start video.

I have the exact same thing on my Philips 58PUS7304 (which I checked is updated to the latest software). Plex App is on version 8.17.1.25326.
Edit: Android TV/Play Store says no updates are available at the moment.

I have 2 units of Philips Andoid TV, both are “The One” series, 50PUS7304 and 55PUS7304.

Idk any of you experiencing UI lagging on Plex for 1-2 months. But it’s very frustuating. I checked both my TVs are the same. Youtube, Tubi or any other application have no issues.

I checked on web for any similar lagging issues but unfortunatly I couldn’t found a reported issue.

Besides when I click play on any video, black-white horizontal lines come first for a second or two, after that I can watch movie without any problem.

I recorded a video, first I opened Youtube app for benchmarking, after that Plex.

What I tried so far; Reduce motion option, clear data/cache, uninstall/reinstall and completely reinstall TV itself.

Thanks in advance for any comments and/or solution offers.

Hi.
Uninstall Plex version that is already installed.
You have to manually downgrade your Plex App on Android TV to 8.15 version by using an apk download on USB Key.
And pray for a fix on latest version on play store.
Don’t forget to disable automatic update on play store.

For now its the best workaround.

Just installed v8.18.0.25636 on my Phillips TV through Play Store and finally the UI is not lagging anymore ! I still get the black & white bars when a movie is loading, though, but this is a non issue

I can confirm that after updating to 8.18 the UI is no longer slow and sluggish. Much better performance right now.
