A few bugs in plexamp that I’ve noticed

  • I downloaded a smart playlist with track plays set to 0.
  • sweet fades on
  • latest plexamp for IOS and windows desktop.
  1. On iOS prefer local downloads set on either “always” or “cellular”. Play random song, switch to Plex dash and notice it’s streaming from my server even though it’s using the downloaded playlist to generate the queue. (Verified by disabling cell access to app)
1a. Hope this gets resolved. I’d still like to look at my server and stream on occasion. To clarify I’m using the downloads tab and shuffling from that playlist.
  2. With sweet fades on no tracks get marked as played. As the downloads after refresh always have the same tracks and if sweet fades off all resume at point of termination.
2a. Suggestion if sweet fades is on, consider played status if stream time is at least 80-90% of track duration.
  3. Smart playlists on server don’t have the option to sort randomly. I’m pretty sure this was a thing in the past. In my situation as I’m only playing unheard tracks I just sort by plays, sync and shuffle.
3a. Suggestion: allow sort by duration so we can make smart playlists with say tracks under 5 or 10 minutes to separate much larger tracks out.

Showing in Plex Dash does not imply streaming media from the server. It’s just updating the status so if you are online you can still see what’s playing.

It sounds like maybe you have “Store Track Progress” enabled on your server library? Turn this off and re-download.

You can select this option here.

Verified.

If that’s a deal breaker for play status to update. a warning should be presented to that effect or like I suggested judge a track played if the played length >= 80-95% of duration which I assume is also where the longitudinal wave (or waveform) is at its lowest point. Would play status be updated in the event that track progress was off and sweet fades was on? I can live with that if so but store track progress is really useful for longer works in “classical” music where tracks can easily be 40+ minutes. (RIP).

This morning, since the tracks with progress present at the head of the playlist (for whatever reason) I just let my phone resume and go through the list. Tracks updated play status since sweet fades were off.

You’re referring to a library filter which you can then download. I was referring to smart playlists which are not the same. That solves my use case and I can completely live with that. However, it is only present in plex dash (afaik) and would be quite useful to have in smart playlists across the board (when editing their parameters) in the future as a toggle much in the same way you can resort via the UI columns. [including the aforementioned suggestion fo being able to have duration as a sortable column in the UI for smart lists).

Thanks for the assist in general. Liking plex dash a lot.

I’m sorry, I’m not sure I understand the issue here.

You can also save it as a smart playlist.

If sweet fades on, store track progress on. played count does not get updated. That’s the issue.

Very cool. :+1: (just don’t attempt to edit the settings of that playlist outside of plexamp as it will give a ‘something went wrong’ error). not that it matters too much.

The solution is to turn off Store Track Progress. It should only be enabled for audiobook-ish libraries, not music.

Sorry to nitpick: that’s cool but you didn’t answer the question: “Would play status be updated in the event that track progress was off and sweet fades was on?” If it DOES update the play count that’s a solution.

Yes, it would. The only exception I’ve seen to that are super short tracks where 90% is after the sweet fade transition point.

My thanks for your time.
