I’ve noticed that PlexAmp never seems to refresh my downloaded smart-playlist, even though the option is set. I have to always refresh my playlist manually - known bug?
should refresh on startup, if you find it doesn’t, upload the logs so we can look.

In this case, it chose not to automatically refresh that playlist. The reason why is the playlist doesn’t have explicit sorting, so it’s grabbing a random sample of the playlist (x hours). If it refreshed that every time, it would re-download the entire thing.
Interesting. Here’s the context: it’s a smart playlist that simply contains tracks I’ve rated 5 stars. It’s set to download 8 hours of music - so this scenario prevents it from automatically refreshing the playlist? You mentioned “explicit sorting” - what is that exactly?
I thought this would be a good solution to being unable to download a whole playlist (24 hour limit prevents this) but I guess it’s not. It’s a playlist I play on shuffle while driving.
I would do the following, make a playlist which is:
- 5 stars
- not listened to in the last X weeks/months
- sorted however you want (just to make deterministic) in the web app
Saving that should result in a smart playlist you can download X hours of, and as you listen, things will be taken out and new things will find their way in. In a sense, kind of like having the entire thing offline and doing a perfect shuffle where you don’t hear repeats…
