A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server

Hello,

I get the error " A problem has been detected with a core component of Plex Media Server." while trying to install. I’ve uninstalled plex server in the past but I’m unable to install a new version. This is on Windows 10. Logs attached. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I’ve tried

  • uninstalling
  • turning off VPN and proxies
  • manually removing database files and installing again
  • restarting computer

Hi Robe,
I’m also just reinstalling PMS and have the same problem as you. I’ve figured something out but came here to see if there was already a solution.
So your logs look similar to mine and you error message is the same as mine.
Can you log in to the Server Settings page on the server machine using any of the following:

http://localhost:32400/web
http://127.0.0.1:32400/web
http://<ipaddress>:32400/web

For me only the first one works because it resolves localhost to an IPv6 address and the other two are IPv4 addresses. So what I think is happening is that for some reason IPv4 is not working properly. I found another post saying that when IPv6 is enabled then IPv4 stops working, but I could not find the resolution. I’ll let you know if I find it, or maybe someone else here already knows.

Hi @ccoles146, thanks for looking into this and providing some feedback. I ended up re-installing windows because nothing I tried work. The problem was resolved by reinstalling windows. I’m hoping I don’t bump into this issue again.

Thanks!
