A52 Audio (AC3) becomes Stereo on my receiver

Greetings.

Quick summary of my troubles: A52 Audio (AC3) plays as Stereo instead of 5.1.

I have a lot of files that has the A52 Audio (AC3) codec according to VLC (when I check the raw file on my Macbook). When I play these files on my Apple TV through Plex my receiver identifies the audio stream as “Stereo” and I don’t know if something is wrong or not.

Server: QNAP NAS Plex server version 0.9.16.4
Player: Apple TV fourth generation version 1.0.6 (811)
The Apple TV is connected through an HDMI cable to my receiver.
Plex SERVER (on Qnap) audio setting: Transcoder Quality: Automatic
Plex CLIENT (on Apple TV) audio setting: Remote Audio Quality: Original
Apple TV audio settings: Audio Mode: Auto
Allow direct streaming: On
Allow Direct Play: On

I cannot find any reason why it should not be in 5.1 (which I think is the right format for A52 Audio AC3).

Further more (don’t know if this is related or a separate issue) my receiver only says “multi channels” when I play Dolby Digital or DTS from Apple TV. When I play it from my BlueRay player it says “Dolby Digital” or “DTS” respectively.

Any help is much appriciated.

can you post the Media info xml for the file and we might be ale to see why the server or apple tv converted it to something else (might need server logs too covering the playback )
