Why can I connect to the actual plex.tv website in my browser, yet not through PMS?
OpenDNS still didn’t resolve this. I’ll revert back to google’s DNS (which I know won’t work)
As my very last stand before this defeats me forever, I’ll disable my network adapter and wifi-hotspot from my PC to my phone’s data network. Results to come…
Its a working ethernet coupler, I ordered from Amazon. My PC other than plex, still performs as normal and network connections just as fast. They’re made for ethernet, not for phone. I can try a direct connection but I’d be quite surprised if anything changed
Now I’ve rolled back a few days with system restore. That is set up to only affect files on my C drive and no other, and at that time my server was successfully set up on another drive but its gone, all traces, as a result from trying to start this from scratch.
I unistalled/reinstalled PMS. NOW the weird thing thats happening is that it can’t find any server, I click on “add media” but it just directs me to “get plex media server” then your download site - even though I already have it, installed, and running.
I’ll try going into the registry because it’s probably aimed at my old server on the other drive, after which I’ll reboot and try again
The good news, I’m happy to report that a new Plex server was instantly claimable once I installed PMS, and is right now scanning my assigned libraries, successfully importing metadata.
The bad news, I had to do a clean install of windows to do it.
I’m starting to believe this was a Chrome security issue. When I ‘synced’ my Chrome settings upon installing it, I notice I quickly was unable to connect to my Plex server. RESETTING all security options on Chrome to defaults has -so far- fixed it (after a clean windows install)
