AAC/M4A not entirely gapless (MacOS / iOS)

After Tidal pulled the plug I decided to encode my local library to AAC (I’m in the Apple ecosystem). It’s rather perfect for my 56 years old ears, and saves space on the NAS (I keep a separate lossless backup elsewhere). I want to keep using Plexamp, because it’s the best app around, I think.
It sounds great. But… I encountered one issue when playing an album like Oxygène (Jarre) or Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd): there’s a tiny but audible gap between the tracks. This happens on the Mac between all tracks and on iOS, however, only between tracks 1 and 2 of an album (the rest playing perfectly gapless).
I noticed this too with foobar2000 (Mac-version) which is based on FFmpeg, I believe. With the latest versions of this app, the gaps disappeared. Will this then also be the case with future Plexamp-versions?

I have installed the latest versions of the mediaserver (Sinology 7.2.2+) and Plexamp (Mac & iOS).
