Aac5.1 won't transcode on shield pro

Hi,

I have issues with audiotracks i aac 5.1 format on my setup
Shield PRO connected to Yamaha RX-A750 connected to LG C1
Every soud for at works flawlessly, except for aac5.1, playback info says direct play aac, but only stereo sound is being send to my reciever (i have passthrough turned on), i would expext, that server should transcode audio to AC3? So 5.1 sound is working ? Or am i missing something ?

Can you provide the logs from the Shield when starting the app? This will have information on what codecs are detected as being supported. It’s possible the receiver is indicating AAC 5.1 support, but your TV says no, so we pass aac 5.1 to the receiver and the receiver is converting it to stereo for the TV. Does your TV support aac 5.1? If not, does it have an option to disable aac support?

Hi,

I cantry that after work (is there some guide how to get logs from shield?), but tv is just “monitor”, reciever is handling sound to 5.1 speakers.

The Shield should send AAC 5.1 as multi-channel PCM, which is supported by the Yamaha.

During playback, pull up the Yamaha’s on-screen info and look at the input signal. Verify if it is receiving 2.0, 5.1, etc audio.

If it is receiving 5.1 audio, check the sound fields (or whatever Yamaha calls them). Make sure it is not forcing things to 2.0.
