Here’s a relevant use case:

Plex does not show the number of IMDB votes for specific titles.

IMDB lists can be exported into Excel, with one of the resulting fields representing the number of IMDB votes per title.

In Excel, I could automatically classify titles based upon their current number of votes.

I would upload this “tag” to Plex, where the relevant titles would be tagged accordingly.

I could then filter or set up a collection for the desired titles.
And of course, this would be one of many potential applications with the ability to modify Plex tags and/or other fields.
