Feature request: tags support

I used to use collections as tags but that is not really working anymore so I request tags support and IMDb keywords import would be nice addition to that but not necessarily.

Could you be more descriptive?
What kind of tags?
There are already ‘Genre’ and ‘Sharing’ tags which you could use.

Yes. I mean custom keywords. Same as tags which already exists in photos. For movies or tv shows custom keywords could describe media’s themes, moods, categories, subcategories or whatever attributes one wants to give to a movie so it could be easily explored, managed or for example to be used to make interesting watchlists on the spot. For example that would be nice way to find movies which are “based on true story” and is about “bank robbery”. Or more complex case to find movies which are part of “French new wave” and the story is set during “world war two” and is about “war prisoner” and “escape”. But also there are many useful and interesting attributes that one could give to a movie as keywords because Plex doesn’t support: from point of production (cinematographer, ultra panavision, technicolor, big flop, sleeper, one time director…) or from point of movie story and characters (teachers and students, anti-hero, kidnapping, dysfunctional families…). I hope it is more clear and you see that something like this is missing in systems like Plex.

I’m tagging many of the movies in my library in much the same way as you describe using the “out of the box” Collections fields in the Tags tab when one clicks on the pencil edit icon. Is that not what that field is for?

Ok, but it’s called collections and I would like having collections AND tags. I used collections as tags but I have too many tags so it doesn’t make sense. Apart from that only one (first) collection that movie belongs to is listed in movie details page so that also doesn’t make sense. That is something that was said to be changed long time ago but it didn’t as well as anything I asked. So for what I need at the moment I find Mac finder more useful.
