I’m not sure why this has not been implemented yet, it’s such a useful feature even VLC has it…
I have a huge anime library with multiple subtitle tracks & different audio languages.
I would much appreciate it if there was a keyboard shortcut like pressing “S” during playback to switch between subtitles tracks and “A” to switch between audio tracks, without having the need to use the settings during playback every episode.
I know that plex does auto select subs based on the audio track however it’s not really helpful if you have more than one subtitle track like “Signs” & “Full subs” etc… especially when you get cases where full subs or some other subs are listed as the default track in the video container & not the one you wanted.
It’s a pain to constantly open the settings during playback just to select a different track for every episode…
For the mobile apps too, an icon on the player for a quick subtitle switch would be nice too. It could be an option setting to enable quick subtitle switch
I’m surprised this still has yet to be implemented.
this would be such a useful feature with my massive anime library & multiple subtitle options.
most of my shows have multiple audio tracks Jap & English Followed with Subs & Signs & these are not auto-selected when watching in English especially the signs… manually remuxing every episode just to have Signs forced is a pain.
or for when I prefer a particular anime in Jap I need to go into settings on plex → Language Settings & set preferred audio to Jap just for that one show so each EP after the next is Jap, then change back to English for when watching other anime/shows.
I don’t think the implementation of keyboard shortcuts is that hard.
I don’t think something like this should take this long to implement.
+1 for this. It would be very handy to have a keyboard shortcut to toggle subtitles on/off while media is playing in the Plex for Windows desktop app.
Currently other versions of Plex have this as “S”, but it’s not listed as a keyboard shortcut for the desktop player.
Sometimes I like to turn on subtitles if I find it hard to understand what was said, and then turn them off again afterwards. This requires pausing, opening the settings, selecting subtitles, then choosing the language from the list, closing the settings, and then repeating the process when I wish to turn them off. A shortcut to simply toggle subtitles on/off would make this process much easier.

That’s exactly my use case (and pain). It works really well in Plex HTPC, where you simply press S to temporarily turn subtiles on and then again to turn them off., but in Plex Web, it’s really cumbersome and slow.
I’ve gotten so frustrated with this that I just spend two hours trying to create a userscript for at least opening up the subtitles menu inside the (normally hidden) settings panel, so that I wouldn’t have to fiddle with the trackpad every time to just get there. Unfortunately, my JavaScript/CSS skills were apparently not enough to get this to work.
Adding this feature to Plex Web seems like such a low hanging fruit that should not take much effort and would make a number of users really happy.
I use Plex Windows Desktop player on a large TV mostly.
Using keyboard shortcuts via Touchportal I control the player.
The lack of keyboard shortcuts like to switch Audio tracks and Subtitles make me have to reach for the mouse more than I want to. The more keyboard shortcuts there is the better.
I seen references to the A and S keyboard shortcuts, but this does not work on the current Plex Windows Desktop player.
I am new to Plex and previously used Kodi and Emby. Both platforms have the option to use shortcut keys, which can be utilized with Flirc in combination with a Harmony or Sofabaton remote.
I really miss this feature in Plex.
As a Dutch user, I frequently use Dutch subtitles when they are available, and I would love to be able to select them with the remote. I would also like to adjust subtitle sync (both plus and minus) using the remote. Additionally, having the option to delete watched episodes would be very convenient.
Like all the other users in this thread, I really hope these features will become available for Plex on my Nvidia Shield TV and other devices. Unfortunately, I cannot use the HTPC app on Shield TV.
For some of these functions, you currently have to click multiple times on the remote just to access them.
