Please add keyboard shortcuts to Plex for Android TV

I use an Nvidia Shield, mostly with an IR remote control, interfacing via FLIRC. Plex works well in this configuration. But it would be even better if I could control a few more things via the keyboard. For example, changing subtitles and changing the audio stream.

These features are available in other Plex players via keyboard shortcuts. Shortcuts “L” and “A” respectively. I was really quite surprised to learn that the Android TV clients don’t support these keyboard shortcuts.

I don’t think there would be any negative impact to include the normal keyboard shortcuts in these players. It would definitely be helpful for me and other customers like me.

If these were included, I would map these keyboard keys to remote control buttons, via the FLIRC, and happily control everything with my normal remote control.

Thanks for considering my request.

Brian.

Is this the right place to put requests like this?

I’m a bit surprised that no one else is interested in this feature as it would be quite useful for Plex on Android TV, which I think is a very popular platform.

Does anyone know of an alternate method to change Audio and Subtitle tracks on this platform without doing multiple operations (I.E. using the menus)?

Thanks,
Brian.

I moved your post to the feature suggestion section.
Though I’m not sure this is a big use case for many users – let’s see.

Thanks!

Yes I want this! This is a big issue from me because many commands I can’t program into my flirc for my harmony elite.

I wound up in this thread while setuping my new FLIRC fob for use with my Harmony controller for use on a ShieldTV.

This would be a killer feature, where the current controller interface is too constrained.
