Hi all,
i tried to look in the forum but didn’t find a answer i looked for.
Where does new skin have to be put in rasplex to be selected and where to find skins for rasplex?
Tnx so much.
There are different ways of doing it (eg using WinSCP or putty or similar) but I find this the easiest as it goes through Windows Explorer:
- open \rasplex\ in Windows Explorer
- nav to Configfiles folder
- rename samba.config.sample to samba.config
- edit file and add an entry as below:
[Addons] path = /storage/.plexht/addons available = yes browsable = yes public = yes writable = yes root preexec = mkdir -p /storage/.plexht/addons - save file, reboot rasplex
- open \rasplex\ in file explorer again, you’ll see an addons folder this time
- drop in your new skins to this folder (eg skin.night folder goes here, with the 720p, colors, addon.xml files within it)
- reboot rasplex again so that newly added skins will appear in the Prefs menu in Rasplex / PHT
I recommend Night; it looks great, highly customisable, is fast and smooth on pi2, and is constantly updated to support the latest features. You can find it in the Skins section of the forum (Night has it’s own subforum).
Great answer.
Tnx so much.
Are all PHT skins compatible with rasplex?
Yeah if a skin works on PHT on a PC or Mac then it will work fine on a pi2. If you have the original pi then you will want a light skin (or use Night in “pi mode”) or performance will be quite poor.
There aren’t many PHT skins that are feature complete / routinely maintained. Night, Plex Black Edition, Plextra, and maybe umega are the most popular third party skins right now. Certainly Night gets my vote.
I have a pi, so i have to use i light one.
So which of what you mentioned i have to avoid?
Tnx
Plex Back Edition is routinely maintained (DeadEyeFlint is patiently awaiting Plex giving him his moderator rights back after the forums catastrophe so that he can update the download links for updates) and is highly recommended and the most popular for Rasplex, its the only skin is fully compliant with Rasplex.

Mmh,
plex black edition link doesn’t work.
Can you suggest me where to download it?
Link on this page works fine http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/129756/release-plex-black-edition/p1

I confirm it works.
Yesterday it didn’t for me.
Tonight i’ll try.
Yesterday i tried Night skin and it is very nice, very customizable, but on pi i think it is a little bit heavy, i had some lags.
@jdbrookes
Do you have any suggestion to make it a little bit lighter for pi, is there any option to set?

Yeah Night skin has a raspberry pi mode (check Prefs) which removes many of the animations.
However with the original Pi you are always going to see delays when browsing or loading large libraries or lists. You will probably find Plex Black Edition to be a little quicker.
hmm, i did as instructed but addons file is not there after reboot. I edited it by renaming it txt then copypast your line, save rename back to config and restart rasplex
