It should be possible to install skins like add-ons (see OpenELEC wiki for details). But some menu-entries will probably just not show up with other skins...
I am able to ssh in but I do not know what folder to place the skin in. Anyone have any thoughts?
I'd like to install Retroplex. That's what I use now. Possible? How? I have my PI as of yesterday. Waiting for the power supply. Should get by tomorrow.
Try placeing the skin folder at /storage/.plexht/addons or use the confluence skin to be able to access the addon installer to install from zip. Just follow the OpenELEC instructions
Neither option worked. The file in the addon folder is not accessable and the install from zip give a dependancy error.
Please post your log after trying to install the zip to be able to identify the missing dependency… (Please use pastebin.com)
How do I pull the log from the pi. Pretty new at some of this stuff sorry.
The log is at /storage/.plexht/temp/plexhomethater.log

Your skin requires a addon you need to install first: "script.recentlyadded"
I was able to get skins to work by placing the unzipped skin folder in the directory noted above (/storage/.plexht/addons). I used WinSCP to do the file transfer. At first I had a permission issue as you noted above when logging in as "plexuser". After logging in as "root" (password was also "rasplex") I had write permissions to that directory. You must reboot your pi before you can select it in the menu.

Any other themes that exist other than Retroplex and MediaPlex? They both look awesome, but I'd like to try even more.

So, most skins load at some level, but pretty much all of them seem to cause PHT to hang, usually when attempting to navigate to any media folder. What a shame!
I'd love to see the "refocus" skin ported fully to work well with rasplex.
