Absolute Series Scanner (for anime mainly)

Sounds good, reverting back to v1.3.3.

used the mapping file name but it differed on each serie mapped, proving the issue scanning was a one off OR plex related
i can remove the title in the file to try to merge series. if you can see if this merge automatically series that would be great as i would pull it in the master if working only

Do you mean you want me to try that on Plex v1.2.7? If so I can try to snapshot my VM and give it a run through tomorrow (heading off to bed now and just saw your reply).

@deusxanime no on 1.3.3 it’s enough

@ZeroQI - ran it on v1.3.3. Anything anidb-xxxx tagged looks to have worked fine, but anything anidb2-xxxx tagged now just shows up as [tvdb-xxxx] in Plex with no metadata. Attaching logs, though doesn’t seem to have generated any HAMA log.

@deusxanime anib2 maps with right season and ep number and tvdbid so behaving as expected but agent should take over…
Check:

  • […]/Plex Media Server/Logs/PMS Plugin Logs/com.plexapp.agents.hama.log (Agent logs)
  • […]/Plex Media Server/Logs/PMS Plugin Logs/com.plexapp.system.log (show why the agent cannot launch)

@ZeroQI - Restarted Plex and recreated test library again. It did the same thing where there is a bunch of blank [tvdb-xxxx] entries in Plex, looks like for anything that used [anidb2-xxxx] tagging in the folder name.

This time it did generate a HAMA log though. Attaching ASS/HAMA and system logs for you to take a look. Didn’t see any errors jump out at me but there is so much info in there with debug on that it is hard for me to pick through. You know better what you are looking for.

Also, just to verify/compare, I recreated library again with github master ASS, and everything works great. Seems something with new ASS not passing off something correctly to HAMA?

@deusxanime I just updated ass/hama & made a test library it’s merging and naming all anidb2-xxxx entries.

@Munchkin_ With the github master branches of ASS/HAMA, it does work great on newest Plex v1.3.3, which looks like what you are using there. I was testing some alternate code for @ZeroQI in one of his above posts where it wasn’t working. I think he is trying to fix the non-merging of anidb2-xxxx tagged series in some of the older versions of Plex.

@ZeroQI - Did you push that update to ASS master? Went to work on some sorting and updated ASS and HAMA to latest master, recreated library, and now I’m getting the same issue as I did in what I thought was the test code? Where anything tagged with [anidb2-xxxx] shows up as [tvdb-xxxx] and blank in Plex like in my previous screenshot. Let me know if you want me to generate new, clean logs using it, though I’d imagine it would be same/similar as the ones I posted a few posts ago.

Reverted back to previous ASS for now (luckily my update script keeps a copy/backup of the previous, it is from around 12/29 I think) and working great again.

Also running into another scanner issue where I don’t think it is reading the custom xml correctly. This is a new series I just moved over to my testing anime library and it is somewhat wierd in that AniDB S1 is mapped to TVDB S0 and even though there are AniDB specials, they is no equivalent in TVDB. Since it is like that, I created a custom xml and tried to map the AniDB specials to TVDB s0e500+ (your ā€œunmappedā€ episode numbers/category). Here is what I did for the xml, basically just adding the anidb s0 mapping offset:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<anime-list>
  <anime anidbid="441" tvdbid="79223" defaulttvdbseason="0">
    <name>A.D. Police</name>
    <mapping-list>
      <mapping anidbseason="0" tvdbseason="0" start="1" end="7" offset="500"/>
    </mapping-list>
  </anime>
</anime-list>

So by default it should map anidb s1 to tvdb s0 (there are 3 episodes), and then I added the anidb s0 to tvdb s0 mapping with offset 500. The issue is it seems to apply the offset of 500 even to the anidb s1 episodes. Here’s from the scanner log where you can see it doing that.

I tried to fix it by forcing the s1 => s0 mapping in the xml (even though it shouldn’t be necassary):

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<anime-list>
  <anime anidbid="441" tvdbid="79223" defaulttvdbseason="0">
    <name>A.D. Police</name>

      <mapping anidbseason="1" tvdbseason="0">;1-1;2-2;3-3;</mapping>
      <mapping anidbseason="0" tvdbseason="0" start="1" end="7" offset="500"/>
    </mapping-list>
  </anime>
</anime-list>

But still does the same thing with both s0 and s1 mapping to s0e501 - e507.

Here’s the relevant filelist for this series if you want to try creating yourself.

I somewhat figured out a way that works by fiddling with the custom xml. New mapping file for A.D. Police Files:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<anime-list>
  <anime anidbid="441" tvdbid="79223" defaulttvdbseason="0">
    <name>A.D. Police</name>
    <mapping-list>
      <mapping anidbseason="0" tvdbseason="0">;1-501;2-502;3-503;4-504;5-505;6-506;7-507;</mapping>
    </mapping-list>
  </anime>
</anime-list>

Offset was messing something up? Seems manually setting the episodes rather than using an offset has fixed it.

Before it applied default tvdbseason before season mapping
if ā€œs%de%dā€ % (season, ep) in mappingList: season, ep, ep2 = mappingList[ep_orig][1:].split(ā€œeā€) + [None]; season, ep = int(season), int(ep)
elif season > 0: season, ep, ep2 = season+offset_season if offset_season >= 0 else 0, ep+offset_episode, ep2+offset_episode if ep2 else None
if ā€˜s%d’ % season in mappingList and mappingList[ā€˜s%d’ % season][2].isdigit(): ep = ep + int (mappingList[ā€˜s%d’ % season][2])

Corrected the order to:
if ā€œs%de%dā€ % (season, ep) in mappingList: season, ep, ep2 = mappingList[ep_orig][1:].split(ā€œeā€) + [None]; season, ep = int(season), int(ep)
elif ā€˜s%d’ % season in mappingList and mappingList[ā€˜s%d’ % season][2].isdigit(): ep = ep + int (mappingList[ā€˜s%d’ % season][2])
elif season > 0: season, ep, ep2 = season+offset_season if offset_season >= 0 else 0, ep+offset_episode, ep2+offset_episode if ep2 else None

This now works with your original mapping file which was correct, uploaded to github master branch

reproducing using your library from filelist from scratch, but all look good to me
title meant for anidb2 are expected to show as tvdb so maybe agent issue.
i did try to remove the serie name to have the same title( [tvdb-xxxxx]) since anidb2 point to the same tvdb serie but that is not present currently so if there is an issue i need to know

@ZeroQI - verified HAMA was on current master. And did some testing with different ASS code.

Deleted and recreated library with old ASS (the one I was using before/currently dated 12/29, just to get a full set of logs out there for it). Starting earlier today I noticed that none of the shows that use [anidb-xxxx] tags are pulling down metadata now even though it was working fine previously, possible AniDB ban? Don’t those pull metadata/posters/art from AniDB instead of TVDB, or do they both pull from both? It also seems to really run for a long time trying to scan the library, whereas it used to be very quick. Probably related to anidb-xxxx problem. Attaching logs for this run as ass_hama_old_logs.zip

Next, I created another scanner py file with current/updated master ASS (named v2) and created another library using it. This time I changed back to original mapping file as well for ā€œA.D. Police Filesā€ using offset instead in custom xml. Same thing is happening, [anidb-xxxx] not downloading posters/etc, but at least it looks like the [anidb2-xxxx] are working fine now, so at least whatever was causing that I think is gone. Offset looks like it is working correctly also for ā€œA.D. Police Filesā€ now. Attaching logs as ass_hama_v2_logs.zip for this run through.

It’s a crash of the agent for Anidb GUID anidb2 using tvdb guid were not affected.
Submitted fix, please test and tell me what bug remains as i am getting confused.

@ZeroQI - Updated both ASS & HAMA to latest masters, deleted library, restarted Plex for good measure, and then recreated library. Scan still took a little while, but I think that isn’t too bad for an initial scan and not as long as before. It is now downloading info/metadata/posters for both anidb-xxxx and anidb2-xxxx tagged series! Spot checked various special mappings and they look to be working well still too. Attaching logs in case you want to review them.

Now if they could just get the darn Plex bug fixed that breaks it downloading season posters etc, then I could really get going to town on getting my library done…

@deusxanime looks very good visually, no crash, mapping good. For the bug Dingmatt indicated today ā€œThe Plex staff have recently acknowledged this issue on their forums and say they’re looking into it.ā€. Any thing not matching you let me know.

@ZeroQI - That’s good to hear that they’ve acknowledged the bug. I’m subscribed to the thread for it but didn’t see an update there, but maybe they announced that somewhere else. Hopefully it doesn’t take them too long to figure it out and fix it. I’ll be starting to go through more of my files and adding to my library (as you see in the last few posts I have already started) and will let you know if any more issues with matching or whatnot. Thanks for your hard work as always!

@deusxanime Thanks. Always nice to hear. I look forward to your anime librqry fully working without issues

@ZeroQI - running into odd mapping happening, but only seems to affect the special.

Example => Assassination Classroom (2015) - Special 01 [Ep 00 OVA] - Meeting Time (BD 1280x720 Hi10P) [FFF] [DA0AB56E].mkv

All the rest of the series’ regular episodes 1-22 are named similarly with the ā€œ(2015)ā€ in the name and map to TVDB S1 properly, but the special gets put in ā€œSeason 2015ā€ rather than specials/s0. Obviously it is picking up the year in the name, but only seems to affect the special. I could probably just rename the whole series without the ā€œ(2015)ā€ and I’m guessing it would work, but in case someone else runs into this thought it might be worth bringing to your attention.

Also another minor problem I ran into and fixed it by renaming, but might be interesting for you to look at if it is easy to fix is with the series ā€œAngel Tales 2ā€. It seems to pick up the ā€œ2ā€ and associate all those files with s2e02. Oddly the special in this case is NOT affected and it gets correctly mapped to s2e12.
