I need helph with audio ac3. So I export audio from a mkv 4k blueray with DVD Fab Toolkit. There is an option “export audio”. So the settings are AC3 and Dolby ProLogic 2. Is it right that the Output will be AC3 5.1 or Im doing something wrong?
What are you trying to accomplish?
- Convert another format to AAC?
- Add/remove tracks from an existing file?
- Something else?
What are the existing audio tracks in the file?
Some good (free) tools:
MakeMKV - Rip DVD/BD discs. Copies files unmodified from disc to computer.
MKVToolNix - Mux (add/remove/reorder) tracks in MKV files.
XMedia Recode - Transcoder, similar to Handbrake. Can passthrough video while transcoding audio (Handbrake always transcodes video).
Pick AC3 5.1. It is the most compatible of the choices.
Avoid the antiquated Dolby ProLogic, as it tries to encode surround sound into (2ch) stereo. And it sounds awful.
Sorry was a mistake in the graphic, I mean its not AAC is AC3. But I wanna have AC3 5.1 and not AC3 Stereo as result. So maybe you mean its a problem if I choose prologic II instead of prologic?
The problem I cant only choose AC3 and no 5.1, I guess prologic II is 5.1. Im wrong?
Dolby Pro Logic is AC3 2.0 with extra processing to embed additional channels. If your audio equipment can understand the signal, it will appear as a 5.1 signal.
However, as @OttoKerner mentions, it is outdated and the audio quality is “lacking.”
AC3 5.1 is absolutely preferable to AC3 2.0 Dolby Pro Logic.
Then either the disc doesn’t have a surround sound track available, or you’re using the wrong software, I presume.
Follow the advice above and use other tools, which allow some more flexibility with the processing.
