Access to Plex on Qnap stop's every 24 hours

Server Version#: Qnap TS-653D 4.5.3.1670
Player Version#: PlexMediaServer-1.23.2.4656-85f0adf5b-x86_64

Having problems with PMS on my qnap it runs fine for about 24hours then it if I try to open and watch something it open on the device but cant connect to my server my network is fine as I can get to the qnap and also still watch stuff from my friends server. If I go in to qnap and stop PMS and then restart it then it will run fine for another 12 to 24 hours. I have updated PMS and also rolled back with no luck have all so updated the qnap but PMS still stops.

This problem happens across all of my devices
Nvidia shield
Samsung TV
Web Plex
Android Phone

Is there a specific time this occurs? Perhaps during when scheduled maintenance is running where the CPU might be taxed with its maintenance activities ?

No it happens at all different times.

Having this too…

May I please have server logs which are gathered immediately after restarting?

started happening for me too. stop plex, start plex and its ok for a while

“Me Too” without logs == Nothing Actionable (never going to get looked at OR fixed)

@ChuckPa I am having the same issue too on my QNAP - see logs attached Plex Media Server Logs_2021-08-15_13-40-58.zip (4.0 MB)

Hi @ChuckPa, any luck with the logs?

Thanks

@DonCaliOni

In your logs, I see very normal activity. I see a commanded shutdown as well.

There isn’t any obvious seizing up.

What I’d like to do next -

  1. Install the QNAP text editor app
  2. Create a Shared Folder named PlexData (this is the diagnostic share)
  3. Restart PMS – run for 60 seconds – Stop it
  4. File Station → PlexData → Plex Media Server
  5. Right-Click Preferences.xml → Edit in Text Editor
  6. On the last line, on the right, just before the />,
  7. add LogNumFiles="10"
  8. It will look like this:
    SomeOtherPref="Value" LogNumFiles="10" />
  9. Save the file
  10. Start Plex.

As PMS starts, using FileStation, click up & over into the “Logs” directory

You should see Plex Media Server.6.log This confirms it’s good.

Now, when it locks up, and you reboot, we have a better chance of seeing the window.

@ChuckPa thanks for the instructions Chuck. I’m a bit of a tech noob - where exactly do I create the new PlexData folder?

I already have a PlexData folder on my one volume, so don’t want to overwrite it?
