Plex Server keeps crashing on QNAP NAS TVS-682

Hi, I’ve encountered some recent instability with my Plex server instance on my QNAP NAS model TVS-682 running firmware version 4.5.4.1723. It will run for about 12 hours or so and then crash and need to be restarted. I can attach the latest crash dump to this post; I don’t know how to debug that and I couldn’t make sense of anything relevant in the logs.
Server Version#: Version 1.23.5.4801
Player Version#: Version 4.61.2

1.23.5.4801-bc4dd58bb.zip (118.3 KB)
Any insight or help would be much appreciated!

Those are the dump files.

The text logs are needed .

  1. Create a shared folder named PlexData anywhere you want.
  2. Restart Plex
  3. Open File Station.
  4. You will see a Plex Media Server entry.
  5. – This is a link to where QTS actually installed PMS. It will follow Plex no matter which volume you might move it to.

When PMS fails again,

Either download the logs via the GUI when it restarts --OR–

  1. Open File Station
  2. Navigate: PlexDataPlex Media Server
  3. Right-click LogsCompress (zip)
  4. Download that zip file
  5. Attach here please.

:joy: nice, I make a forum post and now my plex server has been stable for the last couple of days. Thanks for the information on how to grab the logs, I’ll do that if I see the instability again. It seems like it was crashing on the scheduled tasks but it made it through those over a couple of days now.

Hi. I’m having this same issue for a couple months now on my QNAP TS-1271. Attached are my logs. Have updated Plex a few times but the issue persists. Thanks for taking a look! The last crash was sometime over the past 2-3 days and I last manually stopped/started it 8/19 around 9p CT.

@Gsrpoweredsi

Unfortunately, there is nothing I can do with these logs.

Default logging is with DEBUG enabled (51 MB max space used)

You turned off DEBUG, probably thinking it would save space.
Log file size is a maximum, fixed size of 51MB.

The logs you provided only show me errors without context.
example

Aug 16, 2021 12:49:13.326 [0x7f369243db38] ERROR - Error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle): 28
Aug 16, 2021 12:49:13.587 [0x7f36936b2b38] ERROR - Error issuing curl_easy_perform(handle): 7

I can’t tell what it was trying to do.

This bothers me, but I can’t tell what was happening.

Aug 19, 2021 20:50:40.573 [0x7f0b946ecb38] WARN - Couldn't determine bundle identifier for plug-in at: "/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Resources/Plug-ins-ab6e1a058/WebClient.bundle"

WebClient is known. That message implies the PMS installation is damaged and should be reinstalled (install on top of itself – no uninstall needed).

Would you please enable DEBUG logging, keeping VERBOSE off, SAVE changes,
Then reinstall the package

Let’s evaluate from there.

Oh. I don’t recall turning debug off. Back on now.
Reinstalled same version (from qnap app center and the downloaded .qpkg from Plex).

I will post again once the issue repeats.

Thanks!

Same!
