Accessing a Plex Server on another network

I have a Plex Server running on a Raspberry Pi on my home network and I would like to connect my parents’ TV to it. However, the Plex application on their TV doesn’t allow me to enter the URL of my server and specifying the IP address and port doesn’t seem to be working either.
Can the Plex App on a smart TV even connect to a server that’s not on the local network? If so, how do I configure this in the app?

Server Version: Version plexmediaserver (deb) 1.25.2.5319-c43dc0277 armhf
Player Version: latest for LG TV

Plex DocumentationRemote Access and Server Sharing

You do not enter the IP address of your server. You login to a Plex account in the TV app.

  1. If you have not done so, set up remote access for your Plex server.

  2. Create an account for your parents at Plex.tv.

  3. Share the appropriate libraries with their account.

  4. Launch the Smart TV app and login to their account.

You can find instructions here to setup your server: Remote Access | Plex Support

Then have your parents create a free Plex account. Then invite their account to join yours. They will have to link their Plex app on their TV to their account. Once all are linked they should be able to pin your server to the side bar.

Now take note that your PI may not be powerful enough to transcode the streams, so you will have to see.

Setting up remote access did the trick, I forgot about that setting. Thank you!
