Accessing my Nvidia Shield folder from a Mac on the same Network

Greetings,
Purchased a lightly used Nvidia Shield recently, and have installed and setup the Plex Server app. My objective is to be able to view my Shields external drive on my Mac, which lies on the same Network. From what I understand from an article on this site, I’m executing the correct steps, however I am not being prompted by a user name and password. Please see below.
If you are accessing from a computer, the easiest way is by enabling network access via SMB.

  1. Go the the settings of the NVIDIA SHIELD itself (not the Plex app settings). Done!
  2. Choose Device Preferences > Storage. Done!
  3. Select Transfer files over local network and turn it on. Done!
  4. It will present you with the username, password, and IP. ----> This does not occur. Window shows “Loading”, but will not proceed from there.
Any assistance regarding this issue would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Are you running the latest version of PMS? The one included with the device is old and might not work properly.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I ensured that PMS was updated to present version.

Can you confirm what version? Somethings the play store doesn’t update correctly.

7.27.1.15203

That is the client app, not Plex Media Server. These are 2 different apps on the device.

Oh my… How do I know the difference? By the way, I have just reset the NVS and will start from scratch.
Thanks for your efforts here. .

The Plex for Android client is what you see when you open Plex. Plex Media Server runs in the background. Look in the Google Play app. You will see both apps listed. You can see the version there.

Or once the server is running, you can access it from Plex Web. You can see the server version from there too.
