Help! I can access my Plex library on LAN, but not over the internet. I think that Plex server software needs to be updated. My problem is that the network address of the server seems to have changed. I need to figure out how to get to the server before moving forward. So my question is more about basic networking. I’m using a Windows 10 computer to access the server, which is an IoSafe N2 running some Synology OS. Can you help tell me how to find this server on my LAN?
Open the “some Synology” and click on the PMS icon on its dashboard – that should bring up the version of Plex Web of your PMS using the device’s local IP address.
Download from the Synology website. Listed under Desktop Utilities. You have to pick a NAS model, but pick any NAS. It is the same software.
Edit:
Also, can you reach the Plex server via https://app.plex.tv/desktop/
If so, then you can see the local IP address in Settings → Remote Access.
If it is not listed, try and enable remote access. Doesn’t matter if it fails, the local IP address should still be displayed.
Thanks. My problem right now is getting to the server. Its network address seems to have changed as the link I made for it gives my “unable to connect.”
