Accessing Plex Behind Firewall no longer working

This is a strange problem… I’m running Plex (for years) behind firewalls and for months behind a Palo Alto Firewall. I never had a problem accessing it remotely. However, I had to shut down my host (ESXi), thus shutting down the firewall and plex server (running on a ubuntu server 16.04, plex Version 1.7.3.3937) to install an UPS.

After I powered all the devices back on… same configurations, no change… port 32400 forwarded and manually specified on the server, it is no longer accessible via internet. I have other servers non-plex running on the same subnet, and they are all fine. Only Plex is no longer working remotely. I even relaxed the rules (temporarily), but no luck. In fact that is the second time this week.

This happened to me after a power outage on the weekend (thus the UPS now!) but remote access came back after rebooting my Plex server (NO CONFIGURATION CHANGE).

Any ideas? It really can’t be the firewall, I have no traffic being blocked on port 32400 and in fact I have logs showing incoming traffic allowed on port 32400, but it is still not remotely accessible.

And it is working again… after enable/disable "Manually specify public port " a few times. I don’t get it. And I hate when I don’t know why it started working again.

Have you check your actual IP address on your router associated with WAN access. My ISP recently installed CG-NAT on all fiber customers forcing those that use plex and other remote services to pay extra for a static IP. Simply if your router WAN IP address is different from the Public IP address, you need to consult with your ISP

Yes, I did. I even checked my ddns status and it had the same address as the FW public address. The IP assigned to my FW is a registered public IP, so no double NATing.
