Action required: Important notice of a potential data breach

Reference: FAQ 15: Claiming & Connecting to a troublesome Synology server.

I did not post any screenshots. You will be prompted during the installation process.

  1. Uninstall Plex Media Server using the “Sign out and unclaim” or the “Uninstall Only” option.
  2. Perform a manual installation in Synology Package Center (do not install the beta version).
  3. Select the “Plex Claim Token” option when re-installing.
  4. Click “Get Plex Claim Token”.
  5. Browser tab will open and display a “claim-xxxxxxx” token string
  6. “COPY” the string
  7. Return to the installer window
  8. PASTE the claim-xxxxx into the small window on the form.
  9. Click NEXT until it starts installing.
  10. Installation will need an extra 15-20 seconds for the installer to communicate with Plex.tv and obtain new credentials for your server. After it receives the credentials, it updates your “Preferences.xml” automatically so the server is again connected to your account.
  11. The installer will confirm success or failure attaching. Success will include your Plex account username in the message
  12. Open an Incognito Browser Window.
  13. Connect http://LAN.IP.of.Syno:32400/web
  14. Confirm Sign in
  15. Confirm “Got it”
  16. Skip through wizard if presented
  17. Arrive at dashboard.
