Might as well add my voice to the +1 for this as a Polestar 2 owner. (Would be nice if the forums had a voting system, so we could stop having to post these kinds of +1 posts, but I guess that’s a separate feature request
)
Would love this on my Volvo C40 Recharge
Even Prime Video is available for AAOS now: New apps for Android Auto and cars with Google built-in
Three years now from the Original Post and nothing, uh?
Yeah. Typical Plex. Always making cool things. But never listening to its users.
P. S. Homeassistant (an opensource project) made the port of its Android Auto app to AAOS in short time.
I found this remark useful:
While abiding by very similar (though not identical) rules as Android Auto, an Android app can be made available for cars running AAOS.
AAOS has been deployed or announced by major brands such as Volvo/Polestar, Renault/Nissan/Mitsubishi, Ford/Lincoln, Lucid, Honda, BMW and likely more.
Brands that use AAOS are switching to the platform for their entire model range rather than here and there. For example, the first was the first Polestar in 2018, and all Volvos have been AAOS since mid 2022. More recently Volkswagen and BMW announced their next car OSs would be based on AAOS.
AAO is likely to become a (if not the) dominant car infotainment operating system.
For iPhone users CarPlay is deployed as an AAOS app, and can then ‘take over’ the entire screen. The concept of CarPlay as an OS does not appear to be taking off.
AAOS looks set to supercede AA over time, though of course AA cars will remain in use for many years (and AA itself may remain in order to provide access to additional apps/functionality on a phone, on top of AAOS, similar to CarPlay). AA appears to me to be seen by Google as a stepping stone/stopgap solution to buy time while AAOS is developed and embedded with cars and also to provide a ‘way in’ to manufacturers, beating others such as Apple to the punch.
Google’s documentation seems to suggest that an app made ready for Android Auto is essentially ready for Android Automotive - the process for making an AAOS app appears to be similar/the same, though as mentioned some rules/guidelines differ a little.

+1 Plexamp version for Andoid Automotive.
Absolutely piling on here to add support for a 1st class build of PlexAmp for Android Automotive OS. This is sorely needed.
+1 would love to have this implemented!
Another vote for this
Just got my new Chevrolet powered by AAOS; and since there is no CarPlay or Android Auto, seems to me if Plex wants to be in the car, it has to do this. There’s a third party solution, but I like PlexAmp playlists a lot.
Another vote from a Plex Pass lifetime user – 2022 Polestar 2 and a server running on MacOS.
+1
More and more cars are starting to use Android Automotive. This SHOULD be a light lift and the demand is there.
Oh, this would be wonderful. We have AAOS in our car. It would be another USP for Plex, and instantly put them as the leader for playing personal music media on AAOS.
Renault user here. AAOS experience is great, it only lacks quality music player like Plexamp
Another vote from me +1
Mental that this isn’t implemented yet
I’d love to hear from Plex why they do not consider this.
It would be great to stream from Plex in my Volvo using Android Automotive infotainment system.
+1 here as well.
Absolutely miss plexamp in my Polestar ![]()
Which solution is that btw?
