Add Exclude as Filter Verb

When trying to create smart playlists, I have been frustrated by the fact that many tracks and albums have multiple genres attached. I use MusicBrainz to organize my imports and typically a track/album will be tagged with multiple genres. I can put in a filter that states Album Genre is not Jazz, but if the album/track contains another genre, like “Smooth Jazz”, the is not seems to be ignored. If this feature is broken, it should be fixed. If it is working as intended (that is, since the album/track has other genres listed and therefore will pass your is not test), then what I would like is a condition called “exclude” which would mean having the attribute would exclude the album/track from the filter, regardless of other attributes that may have alternatively allowed it.

That said, it seems that if tracks on an album have different genres, they are all combined at the album level. The result is you cannot properly filter tracks for genre characteristics.

I’ve been testing this in my library and cannot reproduce it.

I’ve prepared a custom filter for an artist with 4 albums.

Album Genre
1 Pop
2 Pop/Rock
3 Electronic
4 Electronic, Pop/Rock

Filtering by is not = Electronic shows me only the 2 albums that don’t contain that genre.

Bons question… considering tracks don’t have their own genres in the latest version of PMS… with what version of PMS are you experiencing this?

Track-level genre handling is the subject of a long-standing request.

The problem I am seeing is if I also include another datum (artist) as part of the first. That is when the multiple genre filters seen to break.

On what server version are you?
Are you using the bundled or hosted version of Plex Web (local IP vs. http://app.plex.tv/desktop)?

Windows 1.21.0.3616
I typically invoke local version.
