In order to improve filter elements/conditions and smart playlists creations, here are some findings and suggestions for fix. One per topic so here’s …
There’s already “Album Style”/“Album Genre”, “Artist Style”/“Artist Genre” but nothing related to individual tracks.. (by the way, do we really need the two?.. Metadata only mentions genres, not style). Is this what “Follow the genre” is supposed to mean ? If so, not sure about how it is handled because… i’ve got much more than these few track genres.
Can we add the “Track Genre” filter element please ? Album or Artist Genre is pretty much useless in many situations.
Also, not a suggestion but a bug fix request, can you fix the writing within the third box in the pictures please (the one the mouse is hovering).
Let’s say I select “International” by mistake. Clicking on it again will only show you “International” option again and none of the previous ones. Only way to get back to (some, not even all) previous options is to meticulously click on the text box, delete the text letter by letter, enter a random letter and delete again. Then, if you’re lucky, all first options may then reappear. If you’re not lucky, only part of them will.
Hopefully this isn’t too much to implement and this can also interest people.. I only use plex for Music and so far i find the library management (for an already somewhat managed library) not very clear or powerful.
Then if it does already exists, it must be 1. baldy translated (“Suivre le genre” meaning in french “Follow the genre” does not equal “Track Genre” or “Genre du morceau”) 2. badly handled (according to metadata, i should have at least 10x more than what is being showed here, so i don’t know where it get’s this info…)
Also, there should be more than “is” or “isn’t” in the conditions… Let’s say I want all Trance tracks to be in a playlist except Goa, but tracks have genres like “progressive trance”, “hard trance”, “trance”, “goa-trance”, “uplifting trance”. Instead of creating 5 different elements to my filter, could we not just add the conditions “contains”/“doesn’t contain” ?
Only 2 elements needed then…
There’s already a dedicated suggestion focusing on expanding the filter options to allow „contains“ for genres and other criteria. Please comment/vote in that thread.
