I move movies and shows to another drive which is not scanned by Plex. this is my “archive” process. I would like to produce a list of content on this other drive and make the list somehow available in Plex so if we are looking for something, we could look in the archived list to see if it’s offline.
If I create a list and save it as a JPG I know I could just create a photo library to display but it would not be searchable.
I do not know much about channels if it’s possible to add a channel that would be an internal hosted document.
Or is there another way to display a custom link in the Librayrs which would basically display a list or XML file listing the offline information?
Thank you

Plex is a media server. Not a catalog of media in cold-storage.
If you have the media files on a drive, why not keeping that drive online and connected to your server? There are numerous ways to connect more than one drive to your media server.
That being said, there is way for you to “simulate” the presence of a movie or tv show file. But it is a tiny bit more involved than editing a text file:
- Create a separate folder on your hard drive for the “offline” movies.
- Create a separate “Movie”-type library in Plex and point it to the newly created folder.
- Take a text editor
- type for instance this into it:
Manchester by the Sea (2016) - save the file and then rename it to
Manchester by the Sea (2016).mkvi.e. a file name strictly according to the general Plex rules for movies - put this file into your ‘offline movies’ folder and let Plex update the library.
