Add movie to collection/genre rather than collection/genre to movie

Add movies to collection/genre rather than collections/genres to a movie.

 

That may not be clear, so let me explain.

 

As of now, if I want to make a collection named "My Favorite Movies starring Mel Gibson" (or whatever, the collection title is arbitrary), I have to go into each one of those movies and add it as tag in the Collection field.

 

It would be so much more simpler/user friendly if I could create a collection or select an existing collection, and then just click the movies I want to include in that collection. Ctrl+click the poster/name to select multiples would be great. Check boxes next to the list of movies would work just as well.  Whatever.  Anything that would prevent users from A) having to type out the collection title evertime (i realize it auto-completes as you type), and B) having to do it for each movie separately

 

Assuming this could be done for Collection, I assume it could be done with Genre just as well.

It sounds like the functionality you are looking for Collection exists already.

If you go the section you want, click on the little checkbox with a mark in it (Select items).

Next select all the movies or whatever you want to add to the collection, lastly click the icon of a folder with a little + on it. This will bring up the collections you have available and let you add all the checked movies to it.
