add a way to send messages or information to users added to my plex server. sometimes i have server downtime and would like to let people know, without messaging each person individually.

I think this is what you’re looking for. I suggest you vote/comment in that thread to avoid distracting votes/attention.
It would be great as a PlexPass user to unlock a feature to send messages to the viewers.
Information on planned maintenance (running every 20min or so)
Restart information (one time message)
and so on.
This would be nice to have when you have a shared server.
Vote on the poll, and maybe give a comment in suggestions to make this feature request better.

While the above suggestion is aiming at informing users actively, there’s another one going for a passive approach by setting a server status.
This could be a cool or stupid idea, you decide…
I share my server with a couple of my friends that are overseas, and at times I bring the server down due to work VPNs or traveling and they are left texting me asking if something is wrong. Because ‘I am such a good friend’, having the ability to set a server status from the menu bar would be really cool.
