Add second host server to plex account

hello all,

I have recently become very low on space on one computer and wanted to add another pc to my PMS. I DL the plex client on second account and logged in and cant seem to find a way to add that pc as a server and not just a media player. Any help would be great thank you! I do also have to plex pass.

Why not add another drive to your current Plex Server? By adding another Plex Server you will have to remember which server each show is stored on and have to switch servers to play different content.

Well honestly I have a second computer and movies I want to watch on it. I don’t have a second HDD on hand right now and thought it would just be as easy as installing the client on a second pc and setting it up as a server but it seems like that can’t happen which I find very weird.

Not sure what issue you are having. I have Plex Media Server installed on my primary Windows 10 Desktop with test servers on a Windows 10 Laptop, MacBook Pro, Nvidia Shield, and a couple of VM’s. You have to download the Plex Media Server software in order to setup a new Server, not sure what software you are referring to by “client.”

You need to install the server, not the client, on the other computer and sign into it with the same Plex account.

thank you @BigWheel I can’t believe I didn’t notice that. :man_facepalming:
