Add suggestions on Samsung App

Continuing the discussion from New Samsung Tizen App Preview:

A feature addition to put on the long list:
The Samsung app bar seems to allow for some shortcuts to be shown for each app (Netflix shows suggestions, Amazon Prime shows on deck shows, etc).

Could the Plex App have the ability to do the same? And even better, could the options be configurable to show things like On Deck, unwatched from a specific library, or shortcuts to a particularly library/playlists/Live TV, etc?

I like this suggestion, the most used one for me, would be “Continue watching…”

Another suggestions a lot of us did on the other thread

  • Add back Finish time on the playback UI
  • Add a toggle to hide the “File name” for the Photos screensaver and maybe an option to show said photos full screen, without top/bottom/side bars.
  • Add back the Blur option for backgrounds

This are all minor things, other than that for me it’w working very well.

And one that should really be added:

  • Allow to change the Language for Subtitle Search, it’s greyed out to English only.

Can I add one feature request that has been mentioned before?

  • Add back the “More Info” button with the Play and Mark as Played buttons, to avoid having to scroll through the More menu. This information is often needed!

@krugster Smart Hub integration is already done, it will be enabled probably next release.

@fede777 Subtitle language search hasn’t been implemented yet. It’ll be coming. The other features you mentioned are either already in discussion with other teams or will be implemented.

@Jimb87 you can use the info button on your remote to access the screen.

I already have this and I’m on 5.1.2, it’s awesome.

I think he means the More info button on the Overview/All Episodes screen, which right now is buried under More → More info. it could be a new button with the (i) Info, like before, there’s plenty of room to add it back.

This button, the highlighted one.

I also noticed that the Audio Language is missing, could that be added too?

Indeed I see it too and it IS awesome!

One small suggestion…could selecting something from the Smart Hub just automatically play it instead of selecting it?

The simple Samsung remote doesn’t have an info button :frowning:

I would add one more before the other 2 that says Continue Watching, if you left some Movie/Episode on Resume.

I think the new app is amazing compared with the previous version, but one thing annoys me: Could you please add a setting to turn on/off the clicking sound during navigation?

It does, it’s hidden under the 1 2 3 button or the button with the colored dots (depending on which year your TV is). The TV will open up a list of buttons and the info button should be there.

There’s already an option in the settings to turn off the click sounds.

The smart remote 123 button only gives the 123 options, pressing it again does not give further options as it does when in TV mode, so no Info button.

But pressing Info (on the standard remote) does not do what I am asking for. When playing a video, it does give the playback info which is useful, but on an episode selection screen, it does nothing.

What I am asking for is an easy way to see the rest of the truncated episode description. There used to be an on-screen button to do this. Now you have to select “More” then scroll right down for more info.

@fede777 explained it better than I have!

@sLumpy

Thanks for your rapid responses.

In my experience, it is sadly rare for companies to respond in this way to their users, probably not the fault of the developers but too often company policy.

So well done to you and to Plex for actually bothering to consult users and act on their concerns. Much appreciated.

Ah yes, gave it another good look and found it now under Settings -> Experience -> Feedback Sounds! Love how much more smooth everything is now! Thanks so much and keep up the amazing good work!

I see that a “Next Up” square has been added to TV Shows, but it’s only informative, is there any way you can make it actionable? So we can go to that Episode right away.

I know you can hit the button on the right of Play/Pause, but it would be a nice add on.

Amazing new features and performance so far!
Is there a chance to have an option to remove black bars (not to stretch but fill)?

Found a bug, whenever I fast forward with the right button (30 seconds FF), or if I use the seek bar, and then I change to another subtitle, the playback time always goes back to when I first pressed the FF button.

Another one, when I press Pause, wait a few seconds, the Playback UI hides, then I press the OK button to make the UI appear again, press Play, nothing happens, I have to press Pause/Play a couple of times, before playback resumes.

I hope I explained it well, if not I’ll try to make a video. Let me know.

Yawn

I’d just settle for the ability to queue up individual tracks from an album. Once upon a time we had that functionality. Not anymore. Apparently people don’t listen to music anymore or something…

Gotcha, I understand now. Should be simple enough to add and makes sense, I’ll log an internal issue.

Not sure what you mean. Is this the postplay screen that shows up after the episode is complete? It should be selectable to go to the next episode, if not then there’s a bug there.

As in you want to force a letterboxed video to fill the screen, and forcing it to stretch the video? We don’t have any plans to do so.

Thanks I’ve logged issues for these to investigate.

You can still do this. Start playback of something, and a play queue is created. Then you can add individual tracks using the ... menu to play that song next or add it to the queue

I discovered a bug, you can’t choose the subtitle language for the download, and it doesn’t matter what the language settings in the profile are for download.
You can only download English subtitles online
