Add to Watchlist button missing on plex.tv PlexWeb but is present when I connect via IP adress

Server Version#: 1.41.3.9314 (Android)
Player Version#: plex.tv 4.145.0 Local on plex server 4.141.0

If I use the hosted Plexweb (app.plex.tv) when I select a Movie (or TV show) the Watchlist icon is missing and there is no add watchlist in the menu either. If I search for the movie and hover over the results I do see the Watchlist icon.
NOTE: I see the Watchlist Icon for movies on my Plex Server however I don’t see the Watchlist icon on a friends Plex server

If I use the PlexWeb on my actual server ie http://IP:32400/web the Watchlist icon is present and in the menu for both my local Plex server movies AND my friends Plex Server.

Ask your friend if they have

  1. switched to use the modern metadata agents
  2. has disabled the “adult movies” checkbox

Only then the Add to Watchlist action is available.

Thanks I asked and everything seems good on his end. Note that if I switch to my local PlexWeb ie the PlexWeb hosted on my Nvidia Shield (using the IP address) rather than app.plex.tv I see the Watchlist icon working correctly.

So it seems to be something in the PlexWeb rather than the server.

The Hosted PlexWeb is 4.145.0 and the one on my Nvidia Shield is 4.141.0. Not sure if it’s issue with the different versions.

I have tried to reproduce but was not able to. A friend of mine was perfectly able to watchlist any item from my own server.

Which makes me believe that your friend didn’t understand fully what you asked for when you

Inquire again about which Agent has been selected in the properties of the library.
If this setting has been changed at some point, was a full Refresh Metadata cycle of the whole library performed afterwards?

This just happened to me! I changed the agent because Plex Movie was not picking up some movies, but decided to change it back to Plex Movie and now I do not see Add to Watchlist on ANY client!

Don’t change agents willy-nilly.
The Watchlist only works with the modern agent, not with the legacy ones.
