Adding a new server, losing my old servers

Server Version#: Windows 11, Synology DSM 7.1, Ubuntu 22.04 LTS, Latest plex media server
Player Version#: Latest

Hi,

It seems to me there is something wrong with my account in assigning servers.
I have three servers, one running on Windows 11, one on DSM 7.1 and one on Ubuntu.
They are both in OS and plex server running latest versions possible.

If I remove all servers, all is fine, there is obviously nothing.
I reinstall one server and sign in to it and do my settings, all is fine.
I add another server, the first server OR the new server are removed automatically.
Even if I specifically sign into the IP of the new server, it’s still not showing.
I add a third server, first one is lost, or second.

There is something going on and I have no idea how many times I have reinstalled the OS, the PMS and so on.

I can’t keep my servers, this is a fact. I think something is wrong with my account.

I have plexpass.

Regards,
Anders

Did you copy the settings from the Windows Registry or the Preferences.xml from one server to the other?
If you did, you have now two (or even three?) servers which use the same machine ID. Therefore your clients cannot distinguish between them.

You’ll need to perform this procedure Why am I locked out of Server Settings and how do I get in? | Plex Support on each server, However, you need to modify it slightly and additionally remove the following keys:

  • AnonymousMachineIdentifier
  • MachineIdentifier
  • ProcessedMachineIdentifier
  • PlexOnlineToken

Do also remove the file cert-v2.p12 from the Plex data folder/Cache.

Thank you for swift answer.

I did not copy anything in between the servers. The only thing they have in common is the source directory (read only) from where the content to share is located. Apart from that, all of them are completely different installations and nothing is actively copied in between.

I will check the link and follow your suggestion and I will report back how it develops.
Thank you in advance! <3

Ok, so I did this on the Windows machine from start.
All looked good, signed in, claimed the server.
All fine.

Then I took my second server running on Linux.
Followed the directives.
Signed in, it asked me to choose my libraries and stuff (which were already defined).
Once I came in I could see that there was an access denied on this and like a wrench on the windows server. I went to claim this server and what happened? It disappeared. So, now I am back to the same place again. Servers disappear and only my Windows server exists.

And I do not understand why.

It feels like there are claimed servers in my profile that does not exists and they are interfering. I just can’t see anything about it or know where to look for it.

As far as I can see you currently have only one server on Linux added to your account.

Is it possible that you have a second account at plex.tv and that one of the web browsers or plex apps you’re using is signed into a different account? (Different from the one you are using to post in this here forum.)

Hi, I found in the settings of my account and deleted all my servers, hence you will only see one Linux server. There were some duplicates and stuff.

No, I only have one account.

Now when I have tried to claim the server, I get “Not authorized, You do not have access to this server”.

Please note that I do tunnel via ssh -L to it to be from origin 127.0.0.1.
I also disabled IPv6 in order to not have extra issues. I saw in the log of my firewall that there were v6 access during my attempts to register.

I have cleared cookies, I have signed out from my account (via Google), removed the file and removed the entries (Only 3 were found) in Preferences.xml.
This was done while service was off. Then restart the service and it asks me to add what archives I wish to have pinned. Next step, I click on a movie OR go to settings where server is considered unclaimed. I claim it. Sometimes it just gets stuck and I have to click after the circle disappears again before something happens, OR it at once just states Not authorized.

Very weird…
