Adding extra folder (Plex server on Synology)

Server Version#: 1.18.5.2309

Hello, I am new to plex-server, but so far I really like it, and understands how it works.
I have installed Plex server on my Synology with DSM DSM 6.2.4-25556 Update 2.

I know I may not use the default folder “plex”. So I have created a folder “Plex_media” with sub folders “Movies”, TV Series" and “Music-videos”.
I created libraries on the plex server and added the folders to these libraries. It works when playing videos on the PC.
BUT: what doesn’t work is the folder and library “Music-videos”. It shows empty.
So, first I thought the media was corrupt or incorrect. I edited the library “Music-videos” and pointed to the folder with “Movies”. Still no lick, stil an empty library.
I checked the permission of the folder and of the user “Plex”. It seems to be OK.
I stopped and started Plex-server. I rebooted the NAS. Still no luck.

I am out op options.
Can someone help me with this?

Regards, Peter

To what type of library are you trying to add that music-videos folder?

Hi Tom,

Your question did the trick.
I assumed library music was for music-files. And it is, but not for video’s.
So, I added a library of type Videos and added my music-dvd’s (.mkv) and now it is working fine.

Thank you very much.

Regards, Peter

You can actually add music videos as “extras” to a music library. However that requires the videos to be linked to an existing artist with regular music tracks in that library.
