I have three Movie libraries. Recent, Archived and Animated (Kids).
If I create a fourth Movie library, All Movies, that cobines all of the movies, that are currently in the other libraries, will Plex recreate thumbnails or use the existing ones?
I want to also keep the existing Movie libraries.
I also have two TV Show libraries that I would like to combine but don’t want to double the amount of hard drive space used for thumbnails.
New library should mean there’ll be new media assets, preview thumbs etc.
I understand there’s always personal preferences… why do you want to keep recent vs. archived movies in separate libraries to begin with?
If the separation is mandatory, you could still configure your new „aggregation library“ to not create preview thumbs.
Thanks. I was hoping the Plex database associated thumbnails with a path rather than a library.
I started with multiple libraries over a decade ago when Plex was a much different beast. I do like having the animated (kids) stuff on it’s own.
I have a few users so wanted to build the new libraries before removing the old. The issue is more the time it would take rather than the drive space.
