Adding music library if not using current iTunes

I use iTunes 10.7, the last version with all the data options I want. It’s been renamed with a space in front and a space in back, and it runs fine on osx 10.11.6 (El Capitan). But there is no actual app named “iTunes” on my computer. This seems to confuse Plex. After setup, the scan has been spinning for an hour. Assuming that’s not normal, how do I get Plex to accept my library?

What’s the reason to stay at 10.7, is that to sync with old hardware? iTunes 12 has fixed a ton of metadata/tagging bugs (and security) and is hugely faster with large libraries.

I assume Plex uses the iTunes API, which is probably too old or buggy in 10.7.
