Adding personal photo/video albums

I have a Windows based Plex server with thousands of movies and TV series. Works great.

I also have my own personal family photos and videos. I would like to add them as a Plex library so we can kick back on the couch and view them. I use Roku players at my TV’s.

My personal albums are very organized by year, event, and whatever else. “Christmas 2020” etc.

I’m aware of the photo library type in Plex and I’ve tried it. The problem I have, is I wish it would simply organize them by my own folder structure. No less, no more. I don’t need timelines, tagging etc.

The only way I’ve been able to get this even remotely close to working is by getting my folders into a photo library in Plex (which jumbled everything together), then selecting specific items and adding them to a playlist/album. This is very clunky, and a duplicate of effort since I’ve already done this via my own folders. Once you start adding thousands of photos and videos, it gets difficult to figure out which ones to select and add to a “playlist” because in that view, they are still all jumbled together.

Any ideas at all? Thanks guys.

As for videos… have you considered using an “other video” type library and viewing it by folders?

Does that library type also allow you to view images?

The problem I have is each one of these personal albums (folders) has a mix of images and videos that I would like to leave together as they are related.

The photo library type does this perfectly as it plays both images and videos, but doesn’t allow to be viewed by folder.

Thanks.

No, Other video libraries are only organizing videos.
