Adding pin to managed user

I would like to add a pin to a managed user, but there is no option to do this (unless I am overlooking something). I have several managed users, and the first one I added besides mine (admin) didn’t include a pin when I set it up. And now that I want to, I can’t seem to be able to add one. I can edit any other managed user’s pin, but not add or edit for that non-pinned account.

I understand I could delete that managed user and recreate it with a pin, but I do not want to lose the data stored to their profile (movies/shows watched and on deck), Any help would be greatly appreciative!

In app.plex.tv, clicker Users & Sharing and when you mouse over a managed user, you should see “Set Pin” or “Edit Pin”. Once you click on that, you should be able to set it.

Edit: You can also do this in the iOS app, so other client apps should let you do it too.

I attempted to do this in the app.plex.tv browser version with the same results - no “Set Pin” or “Edit Pin” or anything when I scroll over that managed user.

I also attempted this in the iOS app, and nothing.

In the pictures I provided, you can see I get the “Edit Pin” when I scroll over my admin account (Picture 1). The second picture shows when I scroll over the third (D - non locked/pinned) account - nothing shows up. And this is the exact results I get from local browser on my Plex server, the app.plex.tv link you informed me to try, and the iOS app.

Am I missing something, or is this just a glitch?

I’m sorry I misspoke. I wasn’t in the iOS app, I was using mobile safari as a “soft tap” to display it. It’s hard to describe. I have to press the item in a way that it highlights the row, but doesn’t press into it as a selection event.

I’ve used both mobile safari and safari on my Mac and can get the edit/set pin options to display.

Well, I originated using Firefox browser. But I can confirm that it still does not provide me with any option when I scroll over using Firefox, Chrome, nor mobile Safari on my iPhone.

I guess my account must be glitched.

Try switching to that managed user account first.

This will also allow you to set an avatar photo and the individual language preferences for that user.

I tried that troubleshooting method as well with no luck.

Another troubleshooting method I did was to add a new managed user. This provided a new account with the greyed out unlocked icon next to their name and gives me the option to “Set Pin”.

This is when I noticed that the account of which I am trying to add a pin (D - third account) on picture below has no lock symbol at all (Green locked or grey unlocked). Since this account was added years ago, is their a parameter/variable not included in the current user database file that could be causing this glitch?

Are you using the local web app or the hosted one?
Try the hosted one first, since it is always newer than the local one: https://app.plex.tv

Are there any web browser add-ins activated in your web browser?

I have tried them all. I have loaded https://app.plex.tv on 2 different PCS - one laptop and one desktop (both using Chrome, Firefox, and Edge). I have also attempted with Mobile Safari on my iPhone. Firefox has add-ons, but Chrome, Edge, and mobile Safari are clean from add-ons.

I seriously think the key factor in this issue is with that little lock icon that is missing from that account. There must be something missing from the user database to not work with the current coding.

I’ve forwarded your issue to the developers, so they can have a look at your account.

Any update on this? I haven’t heard from any developers nor has this been resolved.

A bug has been identified in the web app. This will be fixed.

Did you also try to use the local web app? I’m told it may be working with that one

Could you now try again? Something was done with the account.

It is now working perfectly! Thank you very much! It works in both my local web app and the hosted one.
