Adding/Sorting Audiobooks

I purchased a lot of MP3 files from Dan Carlin. They are all named as:

“##-Subject-Title-Episode#-Hardcore-History-Dan-Carlin.mp3”

Example:
27-Ghosts-of-the-Ostfront-I-Hardcore-History-Dan-Carlin.mp3
28-Ghosts-of-the-Ostfront-II-Hardcore-History-Dan-Carlin.mp3

38-Death-Throes-of-the-Republic-V-Hardcore-History-Dan-Carlin.mp3
39-Death-Throes-of-the-Republic-VI-Hardcore-History-Dan-Carlin.mp3

Each subject has its own Art. My goal is to create a folder called “Dan Carlin - Ghosts of the Ostfront” and throw episodes 27-30 in there; same with the others.

I’ve done this and my problem is that the Ghosts folder will also have Death Throes episodes in there, or some other subject.

What is the best way to have Plex properly separate these audiobooks?

Thanks for any help

Hi Armegeden

I suggest you simply rename the files of your audio book, from its EXIF or its actual file name with a tool like “Mp3Tag”. With this tools you can manage EXIF information and automatically rename files using that information. This is what I have done with all my audiobooks.

I actually have Mp3Tag installed but couldn’t see how to rename/edit in batch. I’ll do some more reading

Thanks for your input.

It’s time consuming. But it seems to work.

Thanks again

Once your Audiobooks (once or more) files are loaded
1- Select all files you want to rename
2- Press [ALT+1] (or look in the menu “Convert”)
3- Set your format string ex.: %artist% - %title% - %album% - $num(%track%,2)
4- Click [OK] and enjoy
