Hello, I usually don’t add split movies in my library, but all the splitted movies that I have they are combined just fine. I have tried to add the new 4K LOTR movies witch come in two parts every movie. Although I follow the guidelines, the movie appears as duplicated rather than one movie. I have deleted it, clean trash and bundles, renamed the disk1 to pt1 etc but had no chance. What am I doing wrong? My current name is: “The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring disc01” and “The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring disc02”
it requires a dash before the disc0x https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-movie-media-files#toc-2
i.e.
The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)-disc1.mkv
The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)-disc2.mkv
Tip: join the two files, because Android clients still don’t work with multi-part videos [HowTo]: joining multi-part movies files with MKVtoolnix GUI
I agree with the tip to join the files. That is what I have done.
Can anyone confirm if Dolby Vision still functions correctly after joining the files? MediaInfo and Plex still report it, but unfortunately I do not have a DV capable TV to confirm it functions as expected. (DV in MKV is still kinda new, so you never know what quirks there could be.)
Thanks for the advice to join the files. My main issue if I done it is that I cannot sync the subs that will come out later. Probably the subs will be splitted and if I join the videos then will be out of sync
If you rip the subtitles from the discs, MKVtoolnix will join them properly.
Thanks for your advices. changing the disc to pt did the job
I second this. If anyone has joined these files and can confirm if DV still works that would be awesome.
