Hi there, I noticed an issue whilst using the Wiim app and playing music from my PlexServer that if you choose to add a currently playing track to the “loved tracks” list (which always appears at the top of the playlist list) that what actually happens is your entire “loved tracks” playlist is cleared out and replaced with just that one track.
This happened to me earlier today - i previously had about 19 hours worth of music in my “loved list” which was then entirely dropped and replaced by the one track I added via the Wiim App. I managed to restore my plex db from backup (so my loved tracks now has 19 hours worth of music in it again) but thought I should make this known via the forum to see whether this is already a known bug?
HI OttoKerner, within the Wiim App you can configure Plex as a source. Within that integration the Wiim App allows you to browse your Plex music library via the usual tags (Artist, Album etc) but it also allows you to see things like “Recently Played….” “Recently Added” etc as well as some smart features like Plex Stations etc.
In this particular case I choose any track from the Plex source and whilst it’s playing hit the 3 vertical dots in the Wiim App where I get options to “Add to Playlist” - everything works fine unless I choose the “loved tracks” playlist (which is the first in the presented options). As mentioned above if I do choose the “loved tracks” as the target all tracks are removed from this playlist and the now playing track is added to it. Essentially destroying your loved tracks playlist in a few clicks
i think that’s a fair point but it’s odd that Wiim is able to basically remove all tracks from an “auto playlist” within Plex - presumably there’s been some kind of collaboration between Plex and Wiim to allow the current level of integration so both perhaps teams would need to resolve it. In any case I shall post this on the Wiim forum too.
Isn’t the default “loved tracks” playlist a smart playlist based on 4-5 star rated tracks* which is automatically created when logging into plexamp?
So really the only way to ‘add’ tracks to it should be to rate a track 4 or 5 stars?
It seems like a wiim bug for actually allowing you to manually add to a smart playlist. (In plexamp the “add to” menu only offers non-smart playlists probably for this exact reason)
I believe if you log out of plexamp and log back in it should offer to create the default playlists again
Hi @jimbob100101 that’s exactly what I understand - “loved tracks” is a smart playlist in the Plex library that you shouldn’t be able to add a track to manually so I agree it’s probably a Wiim bug. Curiosity got the better of me and I thought maybe by performing that action that Wiim would set a rating of 5 or something on the now-playing track but as I say it does something very odd and you end up with all your previously loved tracks removed. I have logged it as an issue via the Wiim app.
I wish I had looked at some of the tracks that were removed from the loved playlist before I restored my library from backup - I would be interested to see if their rating was removed ( i would expect so).
