Adding TVrage to Agents

Can anyone help me out with this? I'm dying to fix the ordering of shows like American Dad! that have different DVD episode ordering than the actual airings. I'm not a fan of TVDB and the fact that their DVD ordering is wrong now. I understand the issue and don't care, I just want my shows in the right order as I have them named. I want them to match the DVD's I ripped them from... So if anyone can help me out in finding a way to add TVRage to my Agents list I'd be eternally grateful. BTW if Furby pops in here, I don't care about TVDB and their argument, I'm not a fan of the stubbornness and just want the scene ordering which matches the DVD release, but TVDB refuses to honor. Sorry not trying to blame you or get you upset, I'm just tired of not being able to organize this one show which is perfect on TVrage which I can't use.

Bump... Is there some reason we can't have TVRage as an optional alternative to TheTVDB? I've seen a bit of interest being shown to this post and I'm just wondering why its such a big deal that we have to use TheTVDB? Obviously, there is some interest in alternative agents out there, so I don't see what the big deal is.

Moved to the Agents forum, since that more accurately reflects your topic.

I can confirm that my Wrestling Metadata Agent (which is really just a specialized TVRage agent) works for American Dad, at least. The only thing it doesn't fetch is artwork. You might want to give that a try.

Thank you sir, I’m going to give that a try!

Also Thank you Mediaconoclast!

If anyone is still interested in this, I have forked the TVRage plug-in and fixed it so that it works.

It solves the American Dad issue :)

Thank you I have been waiting for someone to fix tvrage. however I think I should bring to your attention that your version still has the same error as the main version where it disappears after clicking the "Check for Updates" button in plex web.

Yeah I'm just now experiencing this issue myself :(

Maybe a daft question but how do i install this? ive added it to the /resources/plug-ins folder along with all the others but i cannot get plex to recognise it?

just found out that sander1 has forked the wrestling agent to TVRage https://github.com/plexinc-agents/TVRage.bundle

hopefully its being merged to TVDB

I have to agree with your opinion about theTVDB. The site itself is very useful but it could be better. The main obstacle are the mediators.

If they would be replaces with people who care about tv series and have basic polite communicational skills it would be a great improvement.

If I would have the skills to create a tvdb type of site with the same function I would do it, just to make the experience bearable.

I just don't understand why those guys are so rude to people who are trying to help out.

A new TV show agent that uses The Movie Database has been released a week ago. There is an updated TVRage agent that can work as a secondary agent for the TMDB agent. That way you don't have to use the TVDB agent.

Both updates have been pushed out through the Channel Directory.

thx for the info ! thats really great news. but why is TVDB-Agent out of the game ? Is this Agent actually that bad? I like the Idea of having as much Agents as possible, so they can complement each other.

If I could fly there right now I would come and hug you for this news.

No, this agent is also still available. You can use it as a primary agent for a TV section. You can also use it as a secondary agent under the Movie Database agent.

oh, ok.

But i noticed that the TVRage.plugin still has the problem, that it disappears after restarting PMS :(

also, i would appreciate if you can add TVRage as a secondary agent for TVDB too. Because TVDB already has more secondary Agents as TMDB... and TMDB seems to work great with TVDB too.

Please include a second agent for TVDB (or replace it). I just read my first forum on there today and I was shocked at how rude the moderators are.

I would immediately change the agents for this reason.

Is the TVRage agent broken at the moment? I remember using it sometime in the last year to fix American Dad and Firefly, but I went to use it just now to fix Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader (Tvdb just cant seem to get this one right) and it's not even listed anymore when I try to fix incorrect match manually. I can see the TVRage agent listed under The Movie Database scanner in my TV Scanners, and I get a match if I use that when manually fixing the match, but it is clear that it isn't actually pulling the metadata from TVRage because it names the episodes with the date they were aired.

I apologize for bringing up a dead topic, but I just had an encounter with TheTVDB guys as well and they were extremely rude. Kitchen Nightmares US has its order all screwed up, I politely pointed it out and was promptly told to piss off.

I am absolutely disgusted by them at this point. Now I have to re-order all of the episodes to coincide with their listing rather than what is official on IMDB, Wikipedia and other sources.

Seriously, this is bad and they need to learn a lesson.

@mholder Yeah, I've seen threads like that! What is up with those guys? The funniest part is whenever I've encountered those threads, the person requesting the change is always right, and the TVDB guys have their information all wrong. So frustrating.

It is for this exact reason that we need a working TVRage client. I played around with it more after my post last night but still got nowhere.

As far as I can see, there are two TVRage releases on github. I've tried both and neither work for me. The first gave the behavior I detailed above, the second actually showed TV Rage as a Metadata Scanner, but when I tried to use it nothing happened. I went back to the Agents and the TV Rage scanner I saw was gone.
