Plex TV Agent forces wrong match with no way of correcting to accurate TVDB show

Currently trying to setup VeggieTales as a TV Show (VeggieTales - TheTVDB.com) but that show doesn’t exist with the Plex TV Agent and I can’t select a different agent when trying to fix the match. The show that it force-matches is “VeggieTales on TV!” (https://watch.plex.tv/show/veggietales). The reason this is a problem is because I can’t choose to use the TVDB (Aired) episode sorting because “VeggieTales on TV!” isn’t a valid TVDB show.

I’ve tried several methods of match hinting and nothing is working. The truly frustrating part is that I had it all set up and working just a week ago, but made the mistake of clicking “Refresh Metadata” after adding a new episode.

Is there any way to really FORCE a different agent on a single show without changing the agent for the entire library?

I wonder… is the Plex TV Agent metadata added to a folder somewhere that I could just delete directly? (I’m trying to understand how I was able to match the TVDB show prior to clicking “Refresh Metadata” and suddenly losing access to the TVDB agent.)

I’m just checking those shows and it seems they mostly match when it comes to the episodes. It’s not unusual for shows to have different episode/season orders on TMDb and TVDb – you can configure the library or individual shows which episode order to use.

The main difference I seem to see is

  1. the show title (VeggieTales on TV! vs. VeggieTales)
  2. the supposed date the 1st episode airing (2006 vs. 1993) – although the actual episode air dates seem to match.

For comparison:

So… what’s the actual gap you’re struggling with?

@tom80H Thanks for the quick response.

If you look closely at the episodes listed in each agent, you’ll see the problem.

TVDB’s “VeggieTales” is what I expect when viewing the “episodes” (with Specials being properly listed in the “Specials” season).

By contrast, TMDB’s show list includes EVERYTHING in chronological order. This includes the normal shows alongside “specials” and even actual movies in the “specials” season.

:pencil2: > Advanced > Episode orderingTVDB (Aired)

That’s what I’ve selected and it isn’t working. I’ll try to grab some screenshots to highlight the issues with that.

Did you refresh the show’s metadata after changing the episode order?

Default Library Episode Order:

TVDB (Aired) Episode Order:

The TVDB episode order is 100% wrong. lol (Also yes, I tried with and without refreshing the metadata after choosing the new episode order.) Compare this screenshot to what is actually listed on the TVDB series episode list: https://thetvdb.com/series/veggietales/seasons/official/1

So the question then becomes, where is this supposed TVDB episode metadata coming from??

There’s two different shows listed on TVDB.

The Plex database (plex://show/5d9c08772df347001e3b3db0) is confused and combined both into one show.

         <-- VeggieTales

<-- VeggieTales on TV (This one needs to be split out in the Plex database)

So is there a way to fix it?

@tom80H needs to raise it internally.

Plex says they fixed the bad ids and it should be corrected/visible within Plex in some hours.

@tom80H @SwiftPanda16 Thank you both so much!

Any idea how many hours it would take for the changes to propagate in the database? I’ve retested everything but nothing has changed (with the exception of the show title coming from the Plex TV Series agent – which now says “VeggieTales”).

To be clear, setting episode sort order to “TVDB (Aired)” is still showing the horribly broken metadata rather than what’s expected.

I refreshed my metadata today and it looks like it is fixed now.

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong, but the TVDB (Aired) episode sort order is still broken for me even after refreshing the metadata. :sob:

Plex Dance the files.

 Still getting the wrong episode order after all of that. Guess I’ll just be forced to update all of my files to align with the TMDB show data. I just really don’t understand what changed because it was all working perfectly a week or so ago. :sob: :sob: :sob:

@SwiftPanda16 I have no idea what changed today but it’s suddenly working again! All of the episodes are in their correct order (TVDB Aired) and I didn’t do anything to change it. lol

Your cache probably expired later than my cache.
