I like to watch everything over plex and it’s a pleasure to use it. Most of the time i’m looking series that are finished, but right now also new ones - like most of you - I think.
I’ve checked the web and IOS version for tv-shows and my Idea should fit.
The refresh Metadata is periodically running and can also be initiated by hand. The server gets the metadata from sources in the correct language if available and also the artwork and all other information.
Upper left - group edit/selection
Upper right side is a counter how many shows are unseen/unwatched.
Bottom left - edit information (web-version)
Bottom right - Refresh metadata etc…
What about another color for not local stored episodes/seasons? The databases have all informations and it shouldn’t be a problem to get this done.
As example - always for the upper right corner:
nothing: everything watched - nothing new available
yellow#: unwatched local available episodes - nothing new available
yellow#: unwatched local available episodes - more available to store locally
this is to keep it readable but better would be:
nothing: everything watched - nothing new available
yellow#: unwatched local available episodes - nothing new available
white#: number of new/missing episodes - more available to store locally
(this will be below the yellow number)
green#: on top of all above! Green for series that are ended and nothing is missing. Complete watching experience.
Too make it easier to get the missing ones it should be possible to get the information in the details by clicking in the lower left of the poster. Only a list of the missing episodes, without anything else. Like s01e05.
And on top of all, a filter to find tv-shows with missing episodes sortable of course.
I had this idea since a long time, maybe other find this a useful feature…
There’s already a number of suggestions which discuss the visualizations you’re describing in your post. I’m not sure squeezing all that information in a color-coded way in different corners of the poster will be all that user friendly (vs. actually confusing for most users).
I suggest you comment vote in those existing threads in order to help us avoid distracting or cannibalizing votes on the same or very similar topics.
I can’t get new episodes with a script from my source (german isn’t so good available)
I don’t want to wait maybe several years to watch finished series/tv-shows.
