Ads inserted during playback of self hosted content

I’ve done some searching but can not find a recent issue, or solutions to old ones.

Was watching self hosted content last night (even tried a different file) and started getting ads. On my own internal network.

Fire stick in a roku tv. Got the spinning circle as normal, and instead of my show starting, got an ad.

Force closed the app and restarted. Still got the ad.

Got mad, restarted app again, file started playback without ads, but about 10 mins in, unskipable ad popped up.

Switched to the roku app instead, and did not get any ads on the same files (and multiple more)

Any one else seeing this?

Server Version#: up to date on unraid docker
Player Version#: fire stick

How exactly were you starting playback on your firetv? For example from the FireTV home, or continue watching on Plex?

Then do you have “Movies & Shows” pinned to your sidebar on Plex?

There should never be ads inserted into personal content the server has no way of doing this.

Plex home screen. Went to continue watching to continue my series.

I have unpinned all plex served options, i only watch from my server.

So has amazon added a “feature” to insert ads into the plex app?

Can you verify you are in fact playing content from your server as I can see playback activity from your user from the Plex catalog as well as ads from that series from our catalog. I would not be able to see this if you were playing from your own content.

So when you are playing this content that has ads can you look at your server and see if you do see playback?

Will do when i get home

Saw this issue posted where plex is now pulling from unpinned sources when i hit continue.

Is it related? Someone responded to an email query i made about this and said its possible plex pulled from pinned sources higher on the list, but i don’t have any pinned sources that are not self hosted.
