Adult Recommendations are not acceptable (NSFW)

Believe it or not you can continue your investment in Plex while simultaneously being irate and raking them over the coals. Nowhere is it written that you have to quit using Plex because of asinine decisions made.

I wonder if Plex employees would enjoy us force feeding porn into their inboxes, and if we took away their ability to prevent it from happening? It’s pretty much the same thing, “Oh, just don’t open your inbox (or do that search, or use Discover or Watchlist).”

I mean c’mon, what “discussions” need to take place on this topic? Give us an OFF SWITCH NOW!!!

Plex was suggesting porn to our kids and somehow the solution is “We are working on it” instead of switching the damn thing off. And this thread has been marked as solved. We are hitting all times lows right now.

Unless I’m mistaken, the creator of this thread marked it as solved. And I can see it’s being worked on. Nothing objectionable is showing up here anymore as of my last check.

Plex is still serving up porn to my client devices so clearly a work in progress.

Hopefully your clients will get the fixes soon. Earlier problem movies still showed up in searches here but without the explicit images. Now search isn’t finding those items at all.

I have not read EVERY comment so forgive me if this has come up. But can I just point out to all the people shouting class action etc. It is no secret what you all use Plex for so can I just point out the obvious.

→ Runs server with illegal content
→ Shares with family (also illegal)
→ Plex feature is bugged, said shared people see porn (or general 16+ content)
→ Start shouting about class action lawsuits

Considering your use case, you might want to just be quiet about it.

Hopefully. Search brings up some weird results when you have thousands of home videos of the kids. Unexpected results.

Hahahaha…. That would certainly self incriminate employees too. Let the captains and crew die with the ship?

You’re not forgiven cuz you’d understand our outrage and there’s plenty of context. You’re jumping in front of the line with an TLDR outlook on this and that’s disingenuous, attempting to have your opinion on this topic.

You are mistaken on it being solved.

Like the other issue, what’s been done is to disable the element - Watch More was disabled on Watchlist for managed users, and More With was disabled from Discover.

The core issues which made this possible in the first place are still there, and may be cropping up in other places.

Yup, this is why we asked to disable this crap. Seriously, Plex, no hyperbole, but this might be the last straw for me as a paying plex pass customer.

That response from the plex employee was laughable. You don’t get to call it a beta after you’ve forced rolled it out to everyone with no mention of beta or any way to disable it. You are only saying that because you got caught out amd that is seriously shady. Don’t gaslight your customers.

Lol I like the feature for actors it’s been out for while. Oh God now I see what the problem is lol xD

Keep it PG plex guys :joy:

Wow, so now Plex has completely removed my Debbie Does Dallas thread? All the offensive images were produced by Plex, not me.

All I’m asking is that Plex does the same with there new Discover, Watchlist and Search features.

Why can I get action on the forums but not in the actual products???

We are having “internal discussions” about it and stopping some of the other posts have “no ETA” but we are working on it. In the meantime, anything came happen. “Sorry” kiddies.

Folks,

I’ve been watching what everyone’s saying.

I’ve talked with a few of the engineers.

  1. They know what happened .

  2. Now they’re figuring out how to fix & improve it.

At this point, I’ve verified:

  1. Uninstall the player app
  2. AS YOU REINSTALL the player app – DISABLE Discover (lower left corner)
  3. Continue to link to your preferred server.
  4. Observe there is no trace of “Discover” anywhere.

In my opinion the discovery should be optional to start with.
And was this released without a test version ?

@Genisys

I was busy working on the server (host) side.

As i flipped back to resolve (install current BETA Nvidia Shield app) is when I found it.
– and promptly disabled it. ( I opted out! )

Ha, now I understand why a search for Mister Ed gave “Sex Education” as the first result.

This “feature” should have been optional in the first place, end of story.

@per_PLEX_ed

I concur with “Opt IN” status and have passed my recommendation to the team.

I future believe the search engine needs some work.

While I can’t reproduce what you saw, I would want the search constraints a bit tighter

On that same thought: If you search for “Debbie” and “Dallas”, you get what you deserve. True?
